Support and Resources

The Recreation and Parks Department is here to support you! We provide and maintain the essential amenities in the community gardens, such as underground irrigation lines, compost bins, bulletin boards, and much more. Gardeners are responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the site.

Each community garden has a coordinator who is the primary point of contact with the City, and should contact the Community Gardens Program Manager with proposals for improvements or requests for assistance:

The following organizations offer additional resources for the gardening community:

Garden for the Environment offers educational workshops at its Seventh Avenue/Lawton location in the Inner Sunset district. Check out its demonstration gardens! Its website has a great list of resources.
San Francisco Garden Resource Organization is a grassroots organization that can help keep you in tune with local greening events and activities.
The American Community Gardening Association is a binational nonprofit membership organization of professionals, volunteers, and supporters of community greening in urban and rural communities.
