Community Services
The focus of the Community Services Division is people. From early childhood through the twilight of life we offer recreation programs for early childhood, school age, tweens, teens, seniors and for people with disabilities. Moreover we operate recreation centers in San Francisco’s most unique neighborhoods: Chinatown, the Western Addition, Ingleside, South of Market, Tenderloin, and the Bayview Hunter’s Point.
Our early childhood programs are especially designed for children ages 9 months through 5 years. Each class provides opportunities for children to learn and grow. We even have classes for children and care-givers to enjoy together! Children move, play, create, socialize and recreate in child-friendly, environments with skilled instructors who love children!
Structured and well supervised activities for elementary and middle school students with an emphasis on arts and culture, community service, sports, group games, homework and special events.
People of all abilities are welcome to participate in the programs, classes and special events conducted by SFRPD. We also have more than 25 years of experience conducting recreation-based American Sign Language Programs, and programs for people who are blind or visually impaired.
