We welcome volunteerism because it…
fosters community and civic participation
enriches recreation programming
encourages stewardship of local parks
allows gardeners to focus on projects that require specialized skills
teaches youth and adults about the wealth of natural wonders in the City’s park system
builds awareness and support for the efforts of the recreation and park system
allows the Department to accomplish projects that require large numbers of people
and much more!
People volunteer with US because they wish…
to build community
to ensure the continuing vitality and health of neighborhood parks and recreation centers
to learn about the wealth of natural wonders in the City’s park system
to learn valuable skills in areas such as leadership, horticulture, and working with youth and seniors
to fulfill community service requirements
to restore native ecosystems
to exercise, get outside, meet new people, have fun
…and much more!
