a park or recreation center in your neighborhood? Volunteers

Areas found within thirty-seven parks are designated as
“Natural Areas” because they contain significant remnants of San
Francisco’s natural heritage. These areas are generally
unlandscaped and require habitat restoration to preserve the
wealth of native plants and animals found in these parklands.
Habitat restoration volunteers may participate in a wide variety
of activities, including removing invasive weeds, propagating
native plants in the nursery, controlling erosion, planting and
monitoring.
From the Conservatory of Flowers to the Bison Paddock, there is a wealth of exciting volunteer opportunities in this world class park. Check out the Volunteer in Golden Gate Park Brochure for the full listing and contact information of the community groups and organizations offering volunteer opportunities in Golden Gate Park. We appreciate the time and effort of all volunteers, whether is it a couple hours per month or a couple of hours per week!
Arts and crafts, theater, sports, dance, tutoring and music
are all possible volunteer activities at recreation centers. If
you have a special talent that you would like to share with
youth, teens, adults or seniors, or if you would like to help
with homework, tutor, or become a mentor, there is an
opportunity for you at your local playground or recreation
center.
The Youth Stewardship Program (YSP) engages youth, 4th - 12th grade, in environmental education and service-learning projects in parks citywide. Our mission is to foster in youth an understanding of their important role in helping to build healthy social and natural communities.
Sign up to volunteer and help the Recreation & Park Department clean up graffiti at these parks: Buena Vista Park, Crocker Amazon Playground, McLaren Park, Mission Dolores Park, Potrero del Sol Park, and Victoria Manalo Draves Park.
