Hello Neighbors! We are excited to announce that we are now beginning the design work for the Kimbell Athletic Field Renovation project.
Recently, we performed preliminary tests on the field’s base material to ensure the field will drain properly during the winter months. The photo below shows the temporary removal of the turf to expose this base material for testing.
Additional tests are scheduled for the week of March 18. Any impacts to the field will conclude before 3 PM each day.
The Kimbell Athletic Field Renovation project aims to replace all the current field turf with new material that utilizes natural infill. The synthetic turf currently on these fields is over 14 years old and at the end of its useful life. All the old turf will be removed and recycled. Additional improvements will include replacing the chain link fence fabric, minor ADA improvements around the site and new site furniture such as bleachers, benches, signs, and trash receptacle.
This project is part of the Park Playfield Repairs and Reconstruction Program.
