| Great Highway Pilot Project | On July 26, 2022, District 4 Supervisor Gordon Mar introduced legislation that would maintain the Great Highway between Lincoln Way and Sloat Boulevard as a car-free promenade on Friday afternoons, weekends, and holidays under a three-year pilot study.
The proposed three-year pilot study legislation will be heard by the Board of Supervisor’s Land Use and Transportation Committee in September 2022, and by the full Board of Supervisors for approval in October. If approved, the pilot study would go on until December 31, 2025. During the pilot study, City departments would collect and analyze data (i.e., visitor usage and traffic conditions) and gather public feedback before issuing a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors for consideration on the Great Highway’s long-term future. |

| McLaren Park Playground & Group Picnic Area | The proposed project includes restoring a children's playground at the Group Picnic site and removing the old sand areas. The new playground will be situated between the two picnic areas to capitalize on the park's hilly topography. A slide will descend from the top of the playground towards the central lawn. Natural elements such as boulders, timbers, and native plantings will be incorporated. A large net structure will climb the playground and allow children amazing views of the City. |

| McLaren Park Vision Plan Process | The 2020 Health and Recovery Bond included $6 million for capital improvements to McLaren Park under the Citywide Parks Program. This Fall, Recreation and Park Department staff will begin conducting community outreach to determine how this funding will be invested the park. The building was originally constructed in 1957 and has not seen any major renovation in decades and is in need of repair to better serve the community. |

| Stow Lake Perimeter Path Renovation | Stow Lake is popular destination in Golden Gate Park for strolling, boating and picnicking. The existing asphalt path that circles the perimeter of the lake has deteriorated and is in need of repair. The project’s design will keep the perimeter path in its current alignment to minimize impact on the overall site and the landscaping. Additionally, the site furnishings will be refurbished. |
