Since our last update, significant progress has been made on the tree work along Visitacion Avenue, with most of the pruning and removals complete. The focus has now shifted to restoration efforts, including grading and wood chip spreading. To ensure the health of the park, SF Environment-approved herbicide will be applied to stumps to prevent re-sprouting. The transformation is evident, with improved bay views and more sunlight available for the soon-to-be-planted native trees and plants.
Next up, our contractor will move to the Upper Reservoir area for some tree pruning, followed by tree work near the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater starting early-April. To protect bird populations, during times of year when birds may be nesting, pre-construction bird nesting surveys by an independent biologist are mandatory before work begins in each new area. Our contractor is developing a site logistics plan for their next phase of work and after that plan is approved, we will share information on any required trail detours and other tips for park user safety.
Please keep an eye out for construction notices and follow all posted signage. We will post additional information here when it is available.
