Dogpatch Paddle Expands Kayak, Paddle Board Programs at Mission Creek

Press Releases Posted on August 26, 2025

Under the new agreement, Dogpatch Paddle will offer kayak and paddle board rentals, lessons, tours, private events, youth programming and unique on-the-water experiences. Paddlers traveling between Dogpatch Paddle’s Mission Creek Boathouse and its Crane Cove Park location will also soon have the option of a one-way paddle trip, timed with the tides to provide a smoother, safer route.

The expanded programming officially launched on Tuesday, with Dogpatch Paddle offering special kayak packages to watch San Francisco Giants home games from McCovey Cove—where fans might even catch a splash hit. With 18 home games remaining at Oracle Park this season, kayakers can reserve a spot for a one-of-a-kind game-day experience from the Bay.

In addition, the Mission Creek Boathouse will serve as a second site for Dogpatch Paddle’s after-school and summer youth camps, giving kids of all skill levels the opportunity to explore the Bay, connect with nature, and build confidence on the water.

“This partnership opens up incredible opportunities for people to engage with the Bay in ways that are active, fun, and welcoming,” said San Francisco Recreation and Park Department General Manager Phil Ginsburg. “Whether you’re a beginner learning to paddle, a camper exploring the shoreline, or a fan watching a Giants game from your kayak, it’s all about making the waterfront more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.”

“I’ve been dreaming about this location since founding Dogpatch Paddle in 2021,” said Dogpatch Paddle owner Adam Zolot. “It’s the perfect complement to our Crane Cove facility—offering closer proximity to downtown for team-building events, calm waters that are ideal for beginners, access to McCovey Cove for Giants games, and expanded youth programming for families in Mission Bay and SoMa.”

Dogpatch Paddle will operate the Boathouse for one year as part of a pilot agreement. The Boathouse, formerly managed by UCSF, became part of the city’s park system in July 2023 when SF Rec and Park assumed responsibility for several parks and open spaces in the Mission Bay neighborhood.
