If you have driven down Visitacion Avenue this week, you may have noticed the large towers erected at the Herz Playground construction site. The playground equipment is being installed! The tallest tower is the basis of equipment for age 5-12, in which two slides and several climbing elements will be attached. The large wood formwork to the east will unveil a new climbing wall soon. Swings for the big kids will be just behind that. The younger play area for age 2-5 is located closer to the clubhouse. The activity tower will include two slides and an accessible bridge that connects the clubhouse courtyard. Tot swings will be located just behind that. The tall aluminum poles near the north gate are play chimes that will bring music to our ears.
In the next month we’ll see bright green turf playground surfacing installed in the play area with a river of blue rubber surfacing flowing through the space. The old chain-link fence will be replaced by black metal mesh fencing, and we’ll have lots of new seating. We look forward to playing in the park later this summer!
