Crocker Amazon Soccer Fields | Construction updates July 24, 2023

Rec Park Improvements | All Project Updates Posted on July 24, 2023

Hi neighbors! Good news! As of July 18, Crocker Soccer Fields 1 and 2 are now completely renovated and opened to the public again.

We opted to complete the replacement of Crocker Amazon’s five fields in three phases this year so that there would always be access to a minimum of two fields throughout the duration of construction. With Fields 1 and 2 complete, we have now closed Fields 3 and 4 for replacement and they will re-open later this fall. Field 5 will remain closed through August and should open in September, shortly after Labor Day.

After seeing the brand-new turf on Fields 1 and 2, one of our neighbors, Hallie, emailed us to say, “Hooray! The new fields look fabulous. My teenage soccer player said: ‘OMG, it looks like Beach Chalet!’ She’s excited to play at Crocker this fall.” Thanks Hallie! We love to hear that!

In other good news, on July 20 the Recreation and Parks Commission approved an expansion of our project scope to allow us to include other needed improvements at Crocker Amazon, including improving ADA-compliant accessibility, adding a new rain garden, and expanding the Geneva Street parking lot. These additional construction activities will not impact the schedule for the soccer field replacements.
