Hello neighbors! Rec and Park, in partnership with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC), is daylighting the historic Yosemite Creek in McLaren Park, as well as piloting a high efficiency irrigation and stormwater reuse system at the Louis Sutter playfield.
The project is currently in design. SFPUC is the lead on this project, and they are in the process of creating a new, more detailed set of design plans (“65% design”) by the end of September. Once these are complete, RPD will review those plans, provide feedback, and consult with PUC on any changes by the end of October. We anticipate having the final design completed by Spring 2024, and construction will happen from 2024-2026.
The newly daylighted Yosemite Creek will run next to Wayland Avenue and will feature a variety of new park amenities that we are building as part of the project. One new element we are very excited about is a new public plaza that will be called Yosemite Station. It’s an educational gathering space that will be built near the creek and we hope will feel very connected to nature.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and we’ll continue to keep you posted as the project progresses.
