2nd Annual Volo Sports Event to Take Place at Golden Gate Park on April 20

Press Releases Posted on March 20, 2025

SAN FRANCISCO, CA  For the second consecutive year, Volo Sports will hold their annual Peace, Love and Volo Field Day on Sunday, April 20 in Robin Williams Meadow and Hippie Hill featuring volleyball and kickball tournaments, San Francisco Recreation and Park Department officials announced today.

The Peace, Love and Volo Field Day will bring together sports enthusiasts from all over the Bay Area to celebrate the spirit of friendly competition, outdoor activity, and community engagement. In addition to volleyball and kickball tournaments and open play, the event will also feature activities such as spikeball and cornhole, food trucks, giveaways, and more. Participants are encouraged to wear their best sixties-themed costumes and tie-dye.

All proceeds will go toward supporting the Volo Kids Foundation, which provides free sports programming to children in underserved areas of San Francisco. Last year, some 400 people participated in the inaugural Peace, Love and Volo Field Day.

“We’re excited to team up with Volo Sports to bring this awesome event back to Golden Gate Park,” said SF Rec and Park General Manager Phil Ginsburg. “This event is all about giving parkgoers a fun, fresh way to enjoy the outdoors, connect with friends, and get active.”

“Last year’s event was a hit, and we’re excited to see it come back,” said Volo Sports Managing Director Luis Rodriguez. “As we roll out our second annual event at the park, we want people to know that Sunday will be all about making sports fun and accessible for all. Everyone is invited!”

During the event, Rec and Park will ensure people visiting the area will have convenient restroom access by providing extra porta-potties near Robin Williams Meadow. Park Rangers will also be on hand to ensure safety.

The sports event’s debut in 2024 marked a shift from the traditional cannabis culture celebration that previously took place in the park on that day. Four-twenty festival organizers canceled last year’s event due to economic challenges within the cannabis industry that made sponsorships hard to secure, as well as City budget cuts that impacted Rec and Park's ability to cover staffing for the event.

For those looking to celebrate 4/20, SF Space Walk, a weeklong festival formerly called SF Weed Week, takes place between April 13 through April 20 and will feature a lineup of events throughout the city showcasing local cannabis culture.

Volo Sports is the nation's leading provider of adult social sports leagues and pickups, providing year-round programming nationwide for more than 500,000 adults to participate in a variety of sports leagues, pickup games, tournaments and social activities.
