We are excited to share that we will be releasing a Release for Qualifications/Proposals (RFQP) for a Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC) for the Kezar Pavilion Renovation Project in early 2026!

This will allow us to integrate the contractor into the project team as the design is still being developed. We will announce on the RFQP has been posted on the City Partner website.

The project’s allocation from the 2020 Earthquake Safety and Emergency Response Bond has been reduced to $20 million and the remainder of the project’s funding is planned to come from a 2028 Parks Bond. This will allow us to align the project’s schedule so that the 2028 Bond funding is available once we are ready to start construction.

Thank you to everyone who supported the concept design for the renovation of Kezar Pavilion. The Recreation and Park Commissioners unanimously approved the design yesterday! 

Our next step is to work on the Construction Manager General Contractor bid solicitation. We are aiming to release it early this Summer. Stay tuned for more updates!

This marks an important milestone for the project, and we want to thank everyone for their interest and participation in our community outreach events. Kezar Pavilion is an iconic San Francisco facility, and we are excited to move forward with this much-needed renovation.

This month, the project team presented the design of Kezar Pavilion at Civic Design Review for a Phase I concept design. We are happy to report that the design was approved and we can proceed with the project. We are anticipating hosting a final community outreach event prior to the end of the year. Thanks to everyone who attended our community open house in Golden Gate Park! We received lots of great feedback and heard from folks interested in native plants, programming for youth and seniors, and creating a welcoming and active plaza space at the building’s west entrance.

We are also in the middle of a Request for Proposals for specialty design services including civil engineering, lighting, acoustical, an elevator consultant and more! If you are interested, please see the SF City Partner website.

The project team will be presenting updated designs for the renovation of Kezar Pavilion to the San Francisco Civic Design Review Committee on Monday, August 19^th at 2pm.

The meetings are held in hybrid format and open to the public. For more information on how to attend please visit the Arts Commission website.

We are excited to share that we are hosting a community outreach event on Saturday, August 24, 10:30-noon to get feedback on the design of the Kezar Pavilion Renovation Project and input on future programming.

We will be hosting an open house style workshop outdoors in Golden Gate Park along Stanyan Street at Page Street near the bocce courts (601 Stanyan St).

Hi folks, Since our last update in May, we have completed environmental review on the Kezar Pavilion Renovation Project. 

This is an important step that all of our capital renovation must go through. 

We have re-engaged with our design team to continue to develop the design of the building and the new plaza based on feedback from the community and our staff.  

We anticipate returning to the community in late summer or early fall for a community meeting to share our progress and get more input. Once we have identified a date for this community meeting we will announce all of the details.

Hi all! We are continuing many of the tasks from last month including finalizing a cost estimate, completing environmental review, and performing additional on-site survey work.

Hi folks. Our project team is continuing to work hard on moving forward the design of the Kezar Pavilion Renovation Project. We are currently getting cost estimates performed for the construction work so that we can refine our project budget. We are also undergoing environmental review on the project.

Finally, we are continuing our on-site investigations, with additional survey work and we recently wrapped up testing the building’s rebar.

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our community meeting on March 12! We had more than 30 people participate and offer feedback on the project and designs. Big thanks to Public Works architects for their help preparing for this meeting.
