Soil Sampling at Buena Vista Park Begins March 17
Starting the week of March 17, construction crews will begin drilling boreholes in Buena Vista Park to collect data on the subsurface conditions around the park for upcoming project work.
This work will involve short, intermittent trail closures and detours at various areas around the park while boreholes are being dug. Workers will use a specialized, low-dust drilling rig truck to minimize noise and air quality impacts. Our goal is to keep trail disruptions to a minimum.
Sampling work will happen in two phases over the course of about a week. First, crews will dig 22 shallow borings across the park. As each shallow borehole is sampled and refilled, trail closures and detours will adjust accordingly.
Once work on the shallow borings is complete, the crew will complete four deeper borings near the tennis court and near the maintenance yard.
During soil sampling, excess soil will be safely stored in 55-gallon drums near the maintenance yard until the work is complete.
