TREE WORK AND TREE REMOVAL
PLEASE BE ADVISED: Tree work and tree removal will begin at Buchanan Street Mall the week of May 5. This work is expected to take approximately 2 weeks. Tree work will happen between 7am - 3pm. Expect to see barriers around work zones, marked detours for pedestrians, and flaggers on-site for safety.
This work will remove most of the trees currently along Buchanan Street Mall, 52 trees in total.
By the time construction on this project is completed next year, we will plant 70 new trees throughout the park’s five blocks. These new trees will be a variety of native California species that are well-suited to our local climate and will enhance the park’s habitat values.
CONSTRUCTION FENCING
Also in early May, construction fencing will be installed at the southern 2 blocks (Grove - Fulton and Fulton - McAllister). Fencing will go up on the northern 3 blocks after essential sewer work is completed between McAllister and Eddy.
All doors and gates that open onto Buchanan Mall will remain accessible via ADA-compliant routes throughout construction. While these routes may shift from time to time, we will continue to update the community regularly with the latest logistics plans.
