In 2023, Rec and Park and core partners hosted twelve gatherings in the Fillmore Community with a focus on community-building, equity, and healing. The Park Improvement Equity Action Initiative has led to the development of specific recommendations for the Department to forward, so that public investment in park renovations strengthens the neighborhood, creates economic opportunity, and improves health and wellness for everyone.
Join us at the Buchanan Mall end-of-year Community Gathering on Thursday, December 14 to reflect on this work with our Healing Circle facilitators. Neighbors and facilitators will gather at the African American Art & Culture Complex for food and conversation at 5:00 p.m., followed by the Community Circle at 6 p.m.
