The week of January 5, Rec and Park will be working with our contractor team to replace 15 trees that were installed during the recent park renovation project and are currently under warranty.
We expect to complete this work over a four-day period. Disruption to park use is expected to be minimal.
While these 15 trees look mostly healthy, our consulting arborist has identified structural deficits that make it prudent to replace them while they are still under warranty.
The affected trees are 12 London Plane trees along the Minnesota Street frontage and 3 Alder trees just north of the shipping container.
The London Plane trees will be replaced with the same species. The Alders will be replaced by multi-stemmed Western Redbud trees, which are expected to do better in that location.
