Golden Gate Park - JFK Promenade | Construction update, February 2026

Rec Park Improvements: Golden Gate Park - Stanyan Street Sidewalk Improvements Posted on February 04, 2026

Please be advised that curb work started this week at Pompeii Circle in front of the Conservatory of Flowers.

JFK Promenade will remain open to pedestrians throughout construction, and pedestrians and cyclists will be directed around the affected area. Please follow all posted signage and directions from flaggers.

Starting as early as next week, we expect to close Conservatory Drive East to pedestrians and cyclists for road work. There will be orange road barricades and/or construction fences to indicate closed sections of roadway.

While Conservatory Drive East is closed, cyclists are advised to use Conservatory Drive West, which runs along the western side of the Conservatory of Flowers. Once it starts, this work is expected to last two weeks.

All crosswalk and curb ramp work on JFK is expected to be completed by the end of February.

Construction to improve the sidewalk along Stanyan Street, near McLaren Lodge, is pending MTA reviews and approvals. Construction on the sidewalk along Stanyan Street is expected to follow the completion of the work on JFK Promenade.

Thank you for your support as we work to improve accessibility and safety in Golden Gate Park!
