NOTE TO NEIGHBORS: Please be advised that we anticipate that, weather permitting, the Contractor team will be working this Saturday, March 1, as well as the following Saturday, March 8, from 7 am to up to 7 pm.
While performing this work, the contractor will continue to follow all noise ordinance-related requirements. So far, we have observed that while the Deep Soil Mixing (DSM) equipment is very large, the sound created by the process is relatively minor compared to typical construction work.
UPDATE: Night Noise Permit for 3/3-3/7 Secured by Contractor
Night Noise Permit has been secured by the Contractor for Monday, 3/3 through Friday, 3/7.
Please note that the Contractor team is currently not anticipating noise outside of normal working hours on Monday, 3/3, and that they do anticipate early am noise for Tuesday and Wednesday, 3/4-3/5, with Thursday and Friday as backup. We do anticipate one additional early morning start, which will be 3/11, 3/12, or 3/13. We will make a follow up update as soon as that date is confirmed.
This work outside of normal work hours is necessary to demobilize large drilling equipment. Equipment of this size is transported on large semi trucks. Due to the width and weights, CAL Trans requires loads of this size to cross the bay bridge prior to 6:00am. These limitations required the contractor to load out the equipment in the early mornings. Trucking activities will begin around 4:00am on these days. The crew will make every attempt possible to minimize noise during this time. We recognize the inconvenience this creates for the neighbors and appreciate the patience. This is a big step towards opening the new Gene Friend Recreation Center in 2026.
We are pushing to wrap up DSM production in early March and associated quality assurance and quality control work (QA/QC) by mid-March, after which you will start to see concrete progress (figuratively and literally) on the new building!
Thank you for your patience with this portion of construction, and thank you for your support of this transformative project.
Feel free to reach out with any questions.
