First Concrete Pour Scheduled for Monday, April 21
All the below grade DSM (Deep Soil Mixing) scope has been completed, and the contractor is working now to install utilities on site and prepare the building pad.
PLEASE BE ADVISED: This Monday, April 21, we will begin the first concrete pour for the building’s foundation. This work will require more than two dozen trucks entering and exiting the site on Monday. Thank you for your patience!
Following this concrete pour, the contractor team will install below grade waterproofing and vapor barrier, before pouring the next layer of the foundation. Following that work, they will begin constructing the building’s steel superstructure.
Adjacent Public Works Right of Way Projects Now In-Progress
As an update to our post last month, please also be advised that there is currently right-of-way work in-progress adjacent to Gene Friend Rec Center as part of two Public Works projects: the Folsom Streetscape Project and the 6th Street Pedestrian Safety Project.
We have been coordinating closely with both project teams (project managers, construction management team, and contractor teams) for quite some time to minimize any construction conflicts and to optimize efficiency.
The 6th Street Pedestrian Safety Project team is working on the sidewalk bulb-out and curb ramps adjacent to the rec center.
The Folsom Streetscape Project team has begun minor utility work on the sidewalk adjacent to the rec center, which is related to a streetlight. PG&E is scheduled to do associated work over the weekend of April 26-27.
Please be alert for temporary pedestrian detours related to the projects (see photos taken April 15 below), and for your safety, please follow all posted signage and the directions from flaggers.
