Construction Update
The first concrete pour for the building’s foundation was completed this Monday, April 21. The footprint for the new building is now visible (see also photo below)! The contractor team is currently working to install below-grade waterproofing and vapor barrier and will then move on to rebar installation and the mat slab foundation. Following that, they will begin construction on the building’s steel superstructure.
Weekend Work Advisory
There is no weekend work for the Gene Friend Rec Center Project this weekend.
We do anticipate that there will be weekend work on-site on the following upcoming Saturdays: May 3, May 10, and May 17, though this weekend work is not yet confirmed. Once the dates are set, we will share another advisory.
As an update to our last post, please also be advised that there is currently right-of-way work in-progress adjacent to Gene Friend Rec Center as part of two Public Works projects: the Folsom Streetscape Project and the 6th Street Pedestrian Safety Project.
The Folsom Streetscape Project team has begun minor utility work related to a streetlight on the sidewalk adjacent to the rec center. PG&E is scheduled to do associated work this weekend, between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27. This work is not a part of the Gene Friend Rec Center Project but given their proximity to the site, we wanted to notify our neighbors as a courtesy.
Thank you for your patience throughout construction and thank you for your support of this transformative project.
