Since our last update in March, we’re pleased to report that we’ve made good progress in the project’s planning and design.
We attended a Buena Vista Neighborhood Association meeting in July and shared the following key design updates. The current scope for the project would include:
- Renovating the asphalt pathway network, focusing on the segments that are most in need of repair, primarily in the northern half of the park
- Upgrading the accessible path from Waller St to the Buena Vista Park playground
- Reducing the width of the pathway above the maintenance yard retaining wall to reduce erosion while maintaining a safe path of travel
- Installing a gabion wall at the tennis courts to stabilize the slope
We’re aiming to share a design update with the public and start the construction document phase by the end of the year. Once the project is fully designed and permitted, we’re planning to put the project out to bid to prospective contractors in 2026.
As a reminder, this pathway renovation project is the first to be drawn from the 2020 Needs Assessment. This foundational work guides this project and charts the course for future improvements at Buena Vista Park.
