The site is getting final touches to be ready for opening. The community can look forward to a brand-new site, including new swings, a ship-themed play structure, new plantings, seating and art throughout! Thank you to all who have participated in the development of this amazing project that is sure to be a community treasure.
Sergeant J Macaulay Park is getting the final touches as we look towards the end of construction. If you’ve passed by recently, you will have noticed the bright red, ship-inspired playset that adorns the corner of the park. Within the past week, and looking forward to completion, the following components have been finished: safety surfacing, furnishings and fencing, and planting. We look forward to re-opening of the park so that children from the neighborhood can once again enjoy this crucial public space.
The park is quickly headed toward completion as the play features are currently being installed. The most exciting of which is the custom ship play component! Within the next month, final paving will be installed, in addition to play surfacing and landscaping!

Formwork for curved concrete seatwalls. The area in between will be the sloped walkway to the upper play area.

Construction is in “full swing” at the park. Within the next month, much construction activity will be occurring, particularly concrete walls and paving, so you’ll start to see the park really take shape! Here are some photos highlights of the construction process thus far:
We are in the exciting times as work on the ground has officially begun. Demolition will begin with removing the old play equipment, play surfacing and underlying concrete, as well as interior curbs, then will move to tree removal. As construction progresses, please contact the project manager with any questions. We will be sure to make updates to this page at key milestones of construction!
