Please note that gyms are generally not available for private rental except during the hours when the facility is closed. Closure times vary but generally gyms are available for rent on Saturdays after 5:00 p.m., Sundays (except in the winter) and Mondays.

Mark Bingham Gymnasium

The Recreation and Park Commission approved the naming of the Eureka Valley Recreation Center's gymnasium to honor hero Mark Bingham in 2002. A simple plaque with his name gives a nod to the story of United Airlines Flight 93, where all of the jet’s passengers, including Bingham, were killed on September 11, 2001 as part of a terrorist plot that also brought down the World Trade Center’s twin towers in New York City and a portion of the Pentagon in Washington, DC. Bingham and other passengers aboard the ill-fated flight thwarted hijackers' plans to direct the plane at other targets in DC.
