Welcome to our new Mission Bay parks. As of July 1, 2023, San Francisco Recreation and Parks will assume the management and maintenance of a unique collection of park spaces in the city's Mission Bay neighborhood, including:
- Mission Creek Park (North and South)
- Mission Bay Kids Park
- The Berry Street and Channel Street dog parks
- Mission Bay Commons
- Mariposa Park
The transition of the 24-acre Mission Bay Parks network to the management of Recreation and Parks (and the Port of San Francisco) is 25 years in the making and marks a significant milestone for the Mission Bay neighborhood. The community’s redevelopment began in 1998 under the direction of the former San Francisco Redevelopment Agency. It is one of the largest and most innovative urban developments initiated by San Francisco. The Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure (OCII), the successor to the former Redevelopment Agency, has operated the Mission Bay Parks through a private management company that handled the day-to-day operations, such as permits for special events, security, gardening, and janitorial duties.
These parks offer an array of passive and active recreation, from picnic sites, plazas, lawn areas and beautiful waterfront views, to sport courts, esplanades, a boathouse and boat launch, playgrounds and dog parks. Come explore these new park sites and visit our Permits and Reservations page to see where you can host your next event or party.
