COMMUNITY NOTIFICATION & PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE
DRAFT GRANT APPLICATION PROPOSAL FOR A US EPA BROWNFIELD CLEAN UP GRANT
San Francisco Recreation and Park Department (RPD) is applying for a United States Environmental Protection Agency Brownfields Cleanup Grant to cover the cost of remediating legacy contaminated subsurface soil at India Basin Shoreline Park, 401 Hunters Point Blvd, San Francisco, CA 94124.
This property is a 7.5-acre park site that will begin a major renovation starting in 2025, including the clean-up of legacy brownfield materials that are currently capped in place. RPD is applying for this grant to cover a portion of the clean-up costs.
As part of the grant application process, RPD will hold a public meeting to discuss the draft grant proposal and to solicit public comments on the proposal and the proposed use of funds. The meeting will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the community gathering room at the Shipwright’s Cottage in India Basin Waterfront Park at 900 Innes Ave, San Francisco, CA 94124.
Copies of the draft grant proposal (PDF), including the draft Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) (PDF), are available online via the preceding links. Copies will also be available for review and comment at Shipwright’s Cottage in India Basin Waterfront Park at 900 Innes Ave, San Francisco, CA 94124, during the hours of 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., every Wednesday to Sunday through November 14.
