Lake Merced West

LMW across the lake

The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department (RPD) and the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) are jointly working on an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) to allow for the construction of new recreational elements at Lake Merced West (520 John Muir Drive) that will serve park users of ages, fitness levels, and experience at this unique and natural waterfront setting.

The possible new recreational elements that will be publicly accessible may include the following: picnic areas, walking paths, a boathouse, a ropes course,  bird watching areas, basketball courts and/or multi-purpose sport court, a playground, a skateboard park, public restrooms, a community building, and a restaurant.

Following the completion of the EIR, RPD will issue new RFP(s) in Summer 2022 for the construction, operation, and maintenance of a boathouse, a ropes course, and a restaurant. Please email Jackie Suen (jackie.suen@sfgov.org) if you would like to be added to the RFP mailing list.
