Construction Advisory: Please be advised that the Friend Gate (North Entrance) will close for over a month beginning Monday, July 21, 2025. Please use Main Gate entrance at 9th Avenue. Pedestrian Detour Map >>

This work at the Friend Gate is “Phase 2” of the Golden Gate Park - Botanical Garden Access Improvements project. In total, the project has 5 phases, which correspond with locations around the Garden. All work is expected to be completed by late 2025.

“Phase 1” began on July 8 and is happening concurrently. This involves improvements to the pathways in the southeast section of the gardens (Mesoamerican Cloud Forest), including paving work and installation of concrete ramps and metal handrails. Please follow all posted signage and be alert for pathway closures and pedestrian detours.

Please also be advised that the restrooms at Great Meadow are currently closed for remodeling. While the restrooms are closed, please use the portable toilets at the north side of Great Meadow or restrooms at the North Gate.
