The Gene Friend Rec Center design team presented project design and drawings to the San Francisco Arts Commission’s Civic Design Review Committee on Monday, October 15. The Commissioners were enthusiastic and supportive of the design. The design received Phase 1 approval, with the condition that the design team share lighting study and entry area study with the Commission upon return for Phase 2 presentation (anticipated 2019). The design team is now working with the San Francisco Planning Department on environmental review of the project, and with an external consultant, to update the cost estimate of the project. We are targeting December or January Commission hearings for presenting a final concept design, pending clearing the two processes mentioned above. Please stay tuned for additional updates.
