Construction is moving along at George Christopher Playground!
The playground demo progressed quickly in the fall, and the site has been a little more quiet this winter due to rain. Until this past Friday, the soil was too wet to pour concrete due to January’s on and off, just-enough-not-to-let-the-ground-dry-out rains.
Now that we’ve passed the required soil compaction testing for the footings at the new concrete walls for the plaza and ramp, we are moving forward with rebar and concrete work, taking advantage of the warm sunny weather.

While it was wet this winter, out contractor demolished the interior of the restroom, and is presently completing the rough plumbing work for the full restroom renovation. The contractor also recently completed construction of a fence extension around the clubhouse, expanding the outdoor area available for the Noe Valley Nursery School and reducing some safety concerns.

Tree removal off Duncan Street, adjacent to Little Red Hen Community Garden is happening this week. Please avoid visiting the area between 7am – 3:30 pm Monday 2/10 – Friday 2/14. We are working with experienced arborists and our contractors will have spotters on site to ensure safety of people and adjacent trees and structures.
Please reach out to Project Manager Lauren Chavez if you have any questions or concerns.
