Our design team at Public Works is busy at work developing details for the renovation of trails. We’re focused on the three remaining trails to be renovated: 1.) the trail up and over the south peak, 2.) the trail south of the peaks that connects to the cross walk, and 3.) a trail that links the promenade to Crestline Drive. Deteriorated steps up and over the south peak will be replaced. Box steps will be added to the switch back trail south of the peaks to ease the steep terrain. The access trail to Crestline Drive will be realigned to the north for a longer run will that will reduce the incline up.
This week we met on site with our Disability Access Coordinator and reviewed the project scope. We will incorporate his recommendations to ensure that the site features comply with ADA guidelines.
Our survey team from Bureau of Streets and Mapping (BSM) has begun their topographical survey. This map will provide the basis of design for our design team to further develop the pedestrian walkway construction documents. We expect to refine plans for the promenade this winter. The design will include reducing asphalt paving, incorporating a park tread tail on the outer perimeter, plantings, ornamental boulders, benches with backs, bicycle racks, accessible parking, and interpretive & way-finding signage. We look forward to seeing the progress of plans for our linear park.
